Blue Crayfish, known as the Painted-hand Mud-bug (Cambarus polychromatus)

This blue crayfish, known as the Painted-hand Mud-bug (Cambarus polychromatus) turned up at a wetland mitigation site in Miami County. The coloration of this burrowing species is highly variable. It is often brighter than its open water relatives, which tend to be dull brown to blend in with the rocks and leaves in their aquatic environment
