Project Description: |
Client
sought to build three athletic fields within
a portion of the 100-year floodplain. Due to
natural and man-made circumstances at the
site, a total of 7.88 acres of wetlands had
developed. MAD Scientist & Associates, was contracted to perform all wetland
delineation, evaluation, permitting and
mitigation duties. The PWS worked as part of
the project team, helping to identify
on-site mitigation opportunities,
negotiating with regulatory agencies for
permits and approval of the mitigation plan.
The PWS also provided guidance and oversight
during the construction process. Through
this on-site mitigation, the total wetland
area at the site actually increased to 8.22
acres. These wetlands are performing well,
and a wide variety of wildlife, including
painted turtles, northern water snakes, blue-winged teal, and five amphibian species
has been observed at the site.
