|
Project Dates: |
Summer 2006 through
present. |
|
Project Description: |
To
compensate for unavoidable impacts to 1.93
acres of wetland, the client agreed to
create at least 4.8 acres of forested
wetland. Upon completion of wetland
construction, MAD Scientist & Associates,
was contracted to perform the monitoring
over 5 years as required by the permit
issued by the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE)
and the Ohio EPA. The wetland monitoring
scope includes examination of vegetation,
hydrology, and soils. Fixed monitoring
points (shown in figure at right) were
determined using a handheld GPS unit capable
of sub-meter accuracy (Trimble GeoXT). VIBI
evaluations are required in years 3 and 5 of
the monitoring period. The monitoring is
specifically designed to evaluate hydrologic
conditions and soils development, plant
composition and cover, general wetland
development, and wildlife use of the Site.
MAD
Scientist & Associates is also providing
limited invasive species management services
to help maintain compliance with the
conditions of the permit.
