Proud organizers of the annual Westerville Wetlands Workshop
The
staff at MAD Scientist & Associates includes a
Professional Wetland Scientist, trained wetland
delineators, and ecologists and environmental
scientists, three of whom have graduate degrees. The
company offers a wide array of services relating to
wetlands and streams, including:
- Determination and delineation of Jurisdictional Waters and Isolated Wetlands
- Wetland assessment using Ohio Rapid Assessment
Methodology and other appropriate evaluation tools
- Wetland permitting
- Mitigation site selection and design services
- Wetland and stream mitigation monitoring
- Wetland restoration
Our experience with specialized wetland and stream studies includes:
- Ohio EPA’s Vegetation Index of Biotic
Integrity (VIBI)
- Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI)
- Headwater Habitat Evaluation Index (HHEI)
- Primary Headwater Habitat biological
assessment studies, including the Headwater
Macroinvertebrate Field Evaluation Index (HMFEI)
and related biological sampling of fish and
salamander populations (which may be necessary
to properly characterize the headwater class in
situations where habitat-only evaluations prove
insufficient).
The company is particularly proud of its efforts
to educate citizens regarding the importance of
these ecosystems to our collective quality of life.
A prime example of these efforts is the annual
“Westerville Wetlands Workshop,” jointly sponsored
by MAD Scientist
& Associates and the City of Westerville Parks
and Recreation Department. This program is held in
early May each year. An exact date, time and
location of the next workshop will be posted on the
News page of our web site
several months in advance of the event.
